Under the craftsmen Training Scheme, Industrial Training Institutes are established and are running in all the districts of the State. |
Objectives of the scheme |
To provide vocational training to youths Studied up to Secondary education level (SSC passed or VIII Standard passed and to enable them to secure employment or to go in for self-employment and thus to reduce unemployment among the educated youths.
To maintain a constant flow a skilled workers to industrial establishment and thus to help to accelerate the industrial growth.
To increase the productivity and the quality of the products by imparting systematic vocational training to youths.

The craftsmen Training Scheme is a training program Implemented at national level and it administered by Director General of Employment and Training, Ministry of labor, Government of India, at central level. |

The trade courses taught in Industrial Training Institutes are practical oriented and knowledge regarding Engineering Drawing, Workshop Science and Calculations and Trade Theory is also imparted to the trainees during the period of training. Form the current session; social Science and Entrepreneurship Training program are added as regular subjects in the Industrial Training Institutes curriculum. In the industrial Training Institutes along with the training other important activities are also undertaken and the trainees are motivated towards self-employment. Through other activities, it is also seen that the quality of training is maintained at high level and the personalities of the trainees are also developed. |

| Apprenticeship Training Scheme (BTRI) |
The object of the Apprentices
Act is to regulated and controls the training in Industries. This Act was passed by the Parliament in 1961 (Amended in 1973) and after the rules
were prepared the scheme was implemented in the state from January 1963. According to this scheme, Government of India, have notified industries
and occupations which are covered under this Act and certain skilled groups combined together formed designated trades, which are useful to the
industries. The industries are obliges to engaged apprentice in prescribed proportion to the skilled category of prescribed proportion to the skilled
category of workers. The apprentices have to take basic training in Government centers (Industrial Training Institutes) for one year, and from the
remaining period of 2 years, as the case may be, the practical training imparted to the apprentices in various establishments by utilizing infrastructure
available with the industries for training of apprentices. The apprentices have to work with the workers in the establishments. Theoretical training known
as Related Instructions is given mostly in Government Basic Training and Related Instructions Centers at the cost of Government. This scheme envisages
training of skilled workers with a view to meeting the need of skilled workers required by various industries in various fields. |

The important function of the Department is to regulate and control the training as
per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961, in the private industries and State Public undertakings of the State Government. Director of Vocational Education
and Training is also the State Apprenticeship Adviser for the purpose of implementing the scheme. |

25% reserved seats for admission in polytechnics.
40% reserved seats for admission in Std. 11th Tech/Voc
25% reserved seats for admission in ITI’s.

| Trade Certificate Courses (Short Term) |
The duration of these courses ranges from the period of 6 months to 2 years. The Board of Vocational Examinations conducts final examination and trade certificates are awarded to the successful candidates. These courses are mainly designed for such students whose educational qualification is less but who can fulfill the local needs of various trades. Students, completing these courses, attain specific skills and are eligible to start small-scale industries with small capital investment, thus encouraging entrepreneurship. Successful candidates can also get the benefit of employment in medium and small-scale industries. |
In addition to the courses mentioned above courses in Tailoring are also conducted by the Directorate and many candidates, especially women candidates’ get the benefit of training. All the above vocational and technical courses are recognized by the Board of Vocational Examinations and permission is given through the Deputy Directors of Vocational Education and Training to Non-Government educational institutions to run these courses on merit and under prescribed norms and conditions. |
