Government Polytechnic, Yavatmal is established in year 1964. It is located in Industrially backward District. It has educational surrounding which helps in maintaining healthy atmosphere for study.

Institute is well equipped with all modern essential infrastructural facilities like building library, computer center, furniture, student amenities etc.

The Scheme of community polytechnic was introduced to this institute in 1986 by “Department of Manpower Resource Development, Government of India” and it is a matter of privilege to mention that this was the only Govt. Polytechnic in Maharashtra state selected by Govt. of India as Community polytechnic under DCA grants. Since then this Polytechnic is tirelessly making effort for the upliftment of rural people to meet following objectives.

This institute is having well-equipped computer lab, which helps in training the student and to organizing the continuing education programme for staff and society.

Under World Bank Assisted Project an Industry Institute Interaction Cell has been established at this institute with Training & placement Officer to look after activities like placement of student in industries, conduct entrepreneurship development program, guidance and counseling personality development, staff development program and organizing campus interview and experts lectures.
